Before Pilates became her passion and calling, she was immersed in the world of science, researching stem cells and colon cancer during her PhD journey. For five long years, she dedicated herself to the demanding and intense work of scientific research, but behind the scenes, Katie was struggling. The pressure and stress took a toll on her mental health, leaving her feeling overwhelmed and burnt out.

It was during these difficult times that Katie first discovered Pilates. In the midst of her PhD, she would escape during lunch breaks, searching for a way to clear her mind and reclaim a sense of peace. That’s when she stepped into her first Pilates class—and everything changed. Each session became more than just a workout; it became her therapy. Pilates offered her a space to breathe, move, and reset, helping her find strength not only in her body but in her mind. It quickly became her sanctuary, a place to reconnect with herself when everything else felt out of control.

Katie soon realised the incredible power Pilates had to heal, both physically and emotionally. What started as a way to cope with stress transformed into a deep passion that she couldn’t ignore. I am a fully qualified Level 3 Pilates Instructor. I started in fitness and nutrition, working as a personal trainer while also teaching aerobics, yoga and pilates. My fascination with movement, recovery and endurance has developed during my career from running a successful Rosemery Conley franchise to teaching WalkActive. I have over 25 years experience in the health and fitness industry and have continued to expand my knowledge and skills by completing my Level 3 Pilates Reformer Teacher Certification, along with a foundation lymphatic drainage workshop, vagus nerve course and an advanced functional health mentoring program. When I am not teaching pilates, I enjoy crossfit, walking my dog, paddle boarding, and have previously competed in Ironman Triathlons, cycling, marathons and long-course endurance events.
